5 TIPS FOR CASHLESS CHARITY- Visiting Orphanage

We all want to spend some quality time on our special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, promotions, etc. Recently, one of the trending ways is to spend it with the needy and deserving people. The idea is to share our happiness with them and to put a smile on their faces. I wanted to extend this idea to make our future visits fruitful via these 5 basic activities. Here is the list of activities that can be done at schools, community centers & orphanages.

Five simple activities to make full use of your visits:

1) Assessment:
First of all, assess their interests and wills by using simple questions or surveys:

o, Ask them about maths, science, sports, hobbies, food, etc.
o   Their ambition in life.
o   What do they like to study?
o   What sports do they like to play?

2) Group Activities/ Teaching Sessions:
After the above assessment activities, you get to know their strengths and weaknesses. Plan to provide them with a platform to showcase their strengths as well as to improve upon their weaknesses. Assign some creative projects that they can complete before your next visit.

o   Poster Making Activity- Hygiene/ Maths/ Science/ English etc.
o   Hand writing competition
o   Food Fest (healthy)- you can carry some food and let them cook or bake some.
o   Sports related activities

3) Nurturing:
Teach basic skills to high school children (Above Grade 8):

o   English Speaking- vocabulary, grammar
o   Teaching them Science/ Maths as concepts (apart from curriculum books)
o   Helping them with the curriculum (Maths, Science, etc.)
o   Computer skills: MSC-IT course, basic about the internet, Microsoft Office, etc.
o   We can teach baking/ cooking /stitching, etc.

4) Establish long-term connectivity to help them grow:
One of the outcomes from the above activities should also be a better relationship and connection between you and them so that you can help them grow outside that place as well.

o   We need to work with teens (or high school pass outs) and get to know their skills
o   Get them enrolled for Mobile repairing, Driving, AC repairing, Welding/ Sheet Metal pieces of training or ITI
o   Prepare them with respect to demand/ requirement
o   We can try to place them in shopping malls, food joints, tailoring shops, mobile repairing shops, etc

5) Medical Camp:
o   Plan for a routine (quarterly) medical checkup of kids
o   If a routine checkup shows any major illness then contact major hospitals for the treatment
