The intention of this post is to provide ways, tips, and useful information to help “Men” in general. The goal of our organization is to provide a platform to help irrespective of gender, religion, caste, etc.
If you look deep into the different data available it’s very serious. Men have higher suicide rates, which are almost double that of women in the case of married men. They also have a lower life expectancy, higher child labor rates, higher homelessness rates, and so on. There are many schemes like “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” and “Save The Girl Child” but not for Beta Padhao, even though the majority of child labor is done by boys who drop out of school and work to help their poor families.
Also, there are many men in India who are suffering from various matrimonial disputes and fighting multiple legal cases related to broken marriages and child custody. There are very few avenues for the relief of such harassed and abused men. The government does not provide any kind of support or counseling. There are multiple laws and policies in India for the protection and well-being of women, but none for men. Many married men are trapped in false marital cases, being targeted by corrupt police who do not follow proper procedures, greedy lawyers who charge exorbitant fees, and a legal system that forces men to attend courts on arbitrary dates thousands of miles away from their workplace, while struggling to maintain their jobs and supporting their aged parents. Because of all these factors, the number of suicides of married Indian men is skyrocketing, around 65000 per year as per NCRB. Most of these suicides would be easily preventable if such men had more avenues for assistance and relief.
Here are the all-India Helplines for men in distress and with suicidal thoughts, the helplines are run by volunteers without any charge.
